Technology to improve recycling customers’ experience

Date: 14-Jan-2018

Alex Fraser’s recycling facilities are working to improve customer experience, on-site communication and loader efficiency, through the introduction of iPads into sales loaders.

To date, drivers collecting product from Alex Fraser’s recycling site receive a ticket at the weighbridge and then communicate their order with loader operators over the UHF radio system.

IT Officer Thomas Tenaglia is currently installing the new technology into sales loaders across Melbourne and Brisbane.

“By introducing iPads into our loaders we’re removing a step from the sales process – enabling the weighbridge officer to send a ticket directly to the loader operator’s screen.

“The new system will reduce the possibility of miscommunication between truck drivers and the loaders. It also allows our loader operators to prioritise orders, improving turn-around times, reducing customer wait times and saving on fuel,” said Thomas.

Recycling Group Manager Sean McCormick said he was looking forward to the benefits the simple solution would bring.

“It’s great to see our people put their heads together to find ways to improve communication, productivity and customer service. The data we log and collect through this new system will help us identify more opportunities to improve our service offering to customers,” said Sean.

Well done to everyone involved with the project, especially Thomas Tenaglia, Yosa Satta, Mario Tenaglia, Adam Somerscales, Simon Hoy and Tony Camilleri.
